After "Klagenfurt-Annabichl" "Salzburg-Maxglan" celebrates its 75th anniversary. 1912 saw 15,000 spectators there an "Aeroplanschauflug". From a beginning of commercial aviation, but you can speak only from a Lufthansa flight from Munich via Salzburg to Bad Reichenhall on 16.8.1926. On 19.4.1927 opened the Österr. Aviation A.G. (ÖLAG) the line Vienna-Salzburg-Innsbruck. In the same year, a flying school, an airline and a shipyard were built in Salzburg. In 1930, after all, 930 aircraft used the airport of the Salzach city. From the following year, the global economic crisis prevented any progress. In 1937, the situation improved somewhat, the ÖLAG together with Lufthansa and the Hungarian painter flew daily with Ju52 machines from Budapest via Vienna, Salzburg and Munich to Zurich.1938, after the "Anscluß" there were big expansion plans, but only plans the real result was the confiscation at the beginning of the war. In 15 air raids on Salzburg, the airport remained unmolested. There were the first jet fighters in the world, the Me262, for which even a new concrete runway had been built. After 1945, the Americans initially used the airfield. In 1951, Swissair was flying the Zurich-Innsbruck-Salzburg route, but charter and sport planes were also landing. In 1954, American occupation made it possible to train pilots, although Austria did not regain air sovereignty until 1955. From then on it went up steeply. Improved overnight, bad weather and navigation aids have made the airport, which today has the most modern facilities, more and more interesting. The design was created by Peter Konkolits, the engraving by Robert Trsek. For the first day organized the BSV "Hallein" a stamp exhibition, there will be a special post office with special cancellation.
