Highlights of the festival preparation in the GDR were the two festival tours of friendship, which led from 7 to 9 October 1972 and 26 April to 2 May 1973 through the districts of the GDR. On the first trip alone, 104 foreign representatives from youth and student organizations from 50 countries took part. In more than 160 meetings and meetings, meetings were held with tens of thousands of our country's young people.
