In 2016, it's finally time again: Austria's national football team has qualified for the finals of a major event and is therefore at the European Championships in France with it. Austrian Post congratulates the national team and celebrates Austria's European Championship participation with its own special stamp. The Austrians were still close to qualifying for the 2014 World Cup finals in Brazil, but missed. National coach Marcel Koller - a Swiss - but managed to lead his team as a group winner through the European Championship qualifying rounds: For the first time succeeded the national team to qualify by sporting success and not by predetermined rules for a European Championship finals. With nine wins and a draw could be, apart from the football nation England, even the best score of a group winner to achieve. The successful matches also promoted the Austrian national team to the 10th place in the World Ranking of the World Football Association - the best result since the introduction of this rating. At the European Championship finals in France Austria meets in the first round on Hungary, Portugal and Iceland. The first and second of each group and the four best group thirds rise in the second round, then it continues in the knockout system: The respective losing team is eliminated. The eagerly anticipated finale will finally take place on 10th July. One thing is certain: no matter how far the Austrian players around star credo David Alaba will bring it - the fans in front of the home screens and those who have managed to get tickets for the games will certainly cheer and hopefully also cheer!
