From 18 July to 11 August 2019, the "Fête des Vignerons 2019" will take place in Vevey, whose roots go back to the 17th century. The huge event has the most unusual rhythm that a party can have: it takes place once a generation. The unique festival is organized by the Confrérie des Vignerons and takes place in Vevey. The "Fête des Vignerons" is a tribute to the viticulture culture of a whole region, which has been celebrated for centuries with a spectacular performance and the culmination of winemakers and vine-growers. UNESCO counts the wine festival as one of the cultural treasures of humanity. The last two events took place in 1977 and 1999. Now it's the next generation's turn. The three 1-franc stamps were realized in the form of a se-tenant. They are inspired by the official poster of the "Fête des Vignerons 2019", created by the same designers. The three subjects deal with the life cycle of the grapevine. Surrounded by a vine, the sun is in the center, which ripens the grapes. Perhaps the appearance of a bird (it is a star) may surprise - especially since these potential grape thieves are only partially popular with wine growers. But the star has a very special meaning and central role in the concept of the "Fête des Vignerons 2019".
