The building in the style of a Rheintalhaus on Dornbirn marketplace was built in 1639 on behalf of a certain Michael Danner and his wife Verena, a born Rhomberg, as a residential and restaurant as well as a dance house on the site of the burned down vicarage. However, this has always been a place where parties, business and politics are celebrated. The family crests - the fir and the lion - still adorn the gable on the front of the house high above the grand staircase. Of course, this staircase has historical significance: Here was officially announced in 1771 that the community Dornbirn had ransomed from the rule of the Counts of Ems.   Characteristic and eponymous for the Red House is the red color with which the upper, wooden part of the building is painted - previously used by the way ox blood. Richly decorated shutters and carvings on the gable underside give the house its impressive appearance. Inside, too, the "adventure house" offers a stylish ambience: dark wall paneling, wooden ceilings, carvings and centuries-old hand-painted rustic cabinets provide a quaint, nostalgic atmosphere, while art and folklore such as an old sled or a spinning wheel can be found in the cozy dining rooms. In 2007, the building was adapted and restored without losing its charm and atmosphere. Today, the Red House is a very successful restaurant that offers not only home-style, traditional cuisine, but also international specialties in a nostalgic setting.
