Old Residential Buildings (Sepac) - Liechtenstein 2019 - 150 Rappen

Old Residential Buildings (Sepac): Sepac is a co-operation of thirteen small postal administrations in Europe and issues stamps on common themes every year. Liechtenstein's contribution to the topic of "Old Residential Buildings" is a special stamp in steel engraving showing the "Red House" (face value: CHF 1.50) in Vaduz from a lesser known perspective. In its present appearance, the Red House was built between 1902 and 1905, when sculptor and architect Egon Rheinberger connected the much older residential building with a stepped gable and the old wine press building with a round tower built according to his own plans. He thus created a striking architectural complex, which today, alongside Vaduz Castle, is another landmark of the capital and has been a listed building since 1951. The history of the building’s construction is not clearly documented. However, archaeological findings have shown that work began on another construction on the same site before being abandoned in the 15th century at the latest. The ownership of the Red House has been documented since the beginning of the 16th century. After belonging to a monastery for almost 300 years, it passed to the Rheinberger family from Vaduz in 1807, whose descendants still live there today.
