Knapweed flowers are particularly attractive for their wild character in natural gardens. They have an equally appealing effect thanks to their perennial flowering joy as cut flowers in the vase. A particularly beautiful representative is the bicolor or Caucasian Knapweed (Centaurea dealbata), which originally comes from the Caucasus and Asia Minor. Here it populates open terrain, steppes, mountain meadows and rocky slopes up to a height of 2,400 meters. In Central Europe, beauty has been cultivated as an ornamental plant for over 200 years. Thanks to different growth heights, large snapdrag nests feel well in flower gardens, as container plants, in window boxes and on window sills. They bloom from June to September in colorful variety and in strong shades or even soft pastel shades. Your flower throat is closed by a palatal bulging lower lip. These have to push insects down to get pollen and nectar. The bulge of the lower lip shows in many varieties a characteristic, usually yellow color.
