The harvest has always played a major role in cultures and religions around the world. The dependence on nature prompted people to express their gratitude. Already for the 3rd century, there are signs for Thanksgiving ceremonies in the Christian church, which today mostly fall on the first Sunday in October. The thanks for the harvest - for the foundations for (over-) life - is today more connected with the idea of a fair distribution of goods, of a participation of all people in the harvests of this world.
