The brand image shows a steam tramway locomotive of the Salzburger Eisenbahn & Tramway Gesellschaft and a modern articulated railcar of the Salzbuger Verkehrsbetriebe. When the first train of the steam tramway steamed from the local train station through the city to the "Inner Stein" on 10 August 1886, the era of public passenger transport had also begun for the provincial capital of Salzburg. For the opening of the water-powered funicular railway to the fortress Hohensalzburg in 1892, a tramway traffic from the station through the Innere Stadt to Kapitelplatz on the one hand and on the other hand from the Residenzplatz through the Kaigasse to Nonntal. In 1896, the Salzburg railway and tramway company expanded their transport network north along the Salzach. In 1907, it was possible to establish the connection from St. Leonhard to Berchtesgaden and a short time later to the famous Königssee. Continuous expansion of the route network and constant modernization characterized the next decades of the Salzburg local railway. On January 1, 1947, the Salzburg railway and tramway company was incorporated into the municipal transport companies. Almost 1.7 million passengers and 350,000 tonnes of goods transported in 1986 confirm the position of the Salzburger Lokalbahn as a contemporary transport system and forward-looking transport solution in the Greater Salzburg area.
