Ford Model T 1908-1927 and Ford Ka: Henry Ford's visions and ideas were the basis for modern private transport. He has spent his life trying to make cars affordable for everyone and not produce luxury items for a small part of society. On June 16, 2003, the Ford Motor Company celebrates its 100th anniversary. Especially with two innovations, Henry Ford successfully promoted this social commitment. For one, this is his choice of the color black, which was used for the first time on the legendary Ford T-model. The reason for choosing the color was as simple as it was ingenious: Black dried faster than other colors, which made it faster and, above all, cheaper to produce. The result was therefore in the spirit of Henry Ford: the T-model became the first car in history for everyone. Affordable even for people whose financial resources were limited. With the second innovation or invention, the American Ford not only significantly reduced the manufacturing cost of automobiles, but also revolutionized the entire industry. Henry Ford was the first to use the assembly line in 1908 to produce cars, heralding the era of industrial mass production. The fact that the company was unstoppable from this time on, goes without saying: After the legendary, black Ford T model followed in 1928, the flottier model A. 1948 Ford introduced the Taunus, the recreational car of the post-war generation on the market. In the late sixties and in the seventies, the Ford Capri was even able to inspire the industry-critical Flower Power movement for cars. For the Ford Motor Company, the last 100 years have gone exactly as Henry Ford intended on the founding date of June 16, 1903. He always wanted more than "just" building cars, he wanted to make high-quality vehicles available to everyone with his inventions and innovations. And that, as our present street picture proves, has really worked very well for him.
