A traditional Austrian football club, the sports association Ried, celebrates its 100th anniversary this year. The present special stamp designed by Herbert Gruber accompanies the centenary celebrations of the Upper Austrian sports club in a philatelically appealing way. History: The SV Ried was founded in 1912 and played until 1955, interrupted only by the two world wars, in the lowest Upper Austrian leagues, the 1st and 2nd class. 1919, the club was renamed SV Germania Ried, but later reversed. Many years later, in 1955, succeeded in the rise in the national league, of which, however, after four seasons, relegated back to the 1st class West. In 1962 succeeded the recent rise in the now introduced District League, 1970 even in the 2nd National League, where you played until the admission to the 1st National League in 1976 always successful and never worse than fifth. A very special year in the history of the club was in 1991: As the new national champion, the SV Ried crowned their season with the promotion to the 2nd Division. After four years in the same league, the runner-up on the relegation round in June 1995 even managed to rise to the highest league in Austria - in the media they spoke of the "football miracle Ried." The next years, until 2003, the club played with the black and green Club colors in the top Austrian league, they celebrated an unforgettable triumph as ÖFB-Cup-winner in the Hanoverian stadium in Vienna in 2003. SV Ried lost their place in the first division after a curious finish in 2003, but received the Metalworking few months later Stadion - today's "Keine Sorgen Arena" - a new Bundesliga-friendly stadium that offers 7,680 spectators seats On 24 May 2005 fixed the club in the penultimate round of the championship, the re-emergence of the Bundesliga, beyond Ried succeeded with 77 points a new one Record in the first league In the 2010/2011 season, the Upper Austrian football club reached the Herbstm Champion title of the Bundesliga, two weeks later, the unofficial title of "Winter King" was fixed. In the summer season, the players could not quite tie to the past achievements and finished in the final table fourth place. The absolute highlight of the season, however, was the second Cup victory: After they had defeated in the quarterfinals later champion Sturm Graz and in the semifinals Rapid, the Rieder won the final at the Ernst Happel Stadium 2-0 against Austria Lustenau.
