100 years of FC Wacker Innsbruck - a Tyrolean institution celebrates its anniversary. With the present special stamp, Österreichische Post AG joins the long list of well-wishers; the motif of the stamp, which is issued in an attractive miniature sheet of 6 pieces, shows the traditional coat of arms of the club in the well-known club colors black and green. Speaking of 100 years: the fact is that the founding year of 1913 surrounds something like a myth, because the beginning of the association is in fact back to January 1915; after the First World War, however, 1913 always appeared as a founding year. For the origin of this year there are various theories, which can not be proven correctly. But one thing is certain: for the Tyrolean football fans, the year 1913 is still firmly linked to the name FC Wacker Innsbruck - and for this reason, the anniversary of the century will be celebrated in a variety of ways. With its long history, the FC Wacker Innsbruck is undoubtedly a significant pioneer of Tyrolean football. After all, he succeeded in the season 1963/1964 as the first Tyrolean club to ascend to the top Austrian league - this was the basis for numerous successes and unforgotten games, such as the sensational away win (1-0) against the almost overpowering opponent Real Madrid 1970 in the European Cup Winners' Cup. After ten Austrian championship titles and seven cup victories FC Wacker Innsbruck had to put some setbacks in recent years, but now again a team in the "tipp3-Bundesliga powered by T-Mobile", where the team in the past season at the end of the 7 Table space reached. After a worryingly bad start in the current season (ten defeats in eleven games), the former coach, Walter Kogler, was dismissed in October of last year from the club. A few days later, Roland Kirchler was introduced as the new coach after the negotiations with the original favorite Michael Streiter had broken up. The first game under Kirchler won the FC Wacker Innsbruck finally 1-0 against SV Ried - this was the first, eagerly awaited victory of the Innsbruck after seven defeats in a row, then further triumphs, both in the championship and in the Cup , followed. But one thing is certain, whether victory or defeat: For a true Tyrolean football fan, it is something of a duty to make a pilgrimage to the Tivoli Stadium on the weekend to cheer "his" FC Wacker Innsbruck.
