This stamp shows Conradin Kreutzer in a special issue of 24 August 1949, on his 100th anniversary. The composer was born on November 22, 1780 in Meßkirchen. In his works he incorporated into German folk songs French opera music. He wrote in addition to some male choirs, the opera "The Camp of Granada", from 1834 and the music of the fairy tale piece "The spendthrift", by Ferdinand Raimund, in 1833. Kreutzer died on December 14, 1849 in Riga.
