Before Karl Böhm, who was born in Graz on August 28, 1894, took up his musical career, he completed a "bourgeois" degree and earned his doctorate in law. Thus hedged, he devoted himself to his life's goal, the conductor's profession and acquired a very sound practical-musical education, which should lead him in connection with his proverbial faithfulness soon to a European reputation. Although famous as a Mozart and Strauss interpreter, Böhm possessed a wide-ranging repertoire: Beethoven, Schubert, Bruckner, Brahms, Schumann - whatever he conducted, his skills and enthusiasm for music fascinated his audience all over the world. There is no musical center in the world where Böhm could not achieve great success. But whether New York, Berlin, Munich, Bayreuth, Milan and especially Salzburg - always had a special relationship with Vienna and the Vienna Philharmonic. "I loved you, how you can love a human being ...", he confessed to this orchestra at the end of his life. This touching end transfigures a 48-year relationship with the Vienna Philharmonic, which has about 450 concerts, countless opera nights in Vienna and Salzburg, and numerous recordings and film recordings. In 1967 he was named "honorary conductor" of this orchestra, an award that has only been given twice (1983 to Herbert v. Karajan) to a conductor. The esteem expressed here was for a conductor who embodied humanity in the fullest sense of the word like no other artist. Karl Böhm came to world fame and timeless grandeur as "Antistar". Nothing about him, neither the way of playing music, conducting technique, outward appearance or way of life, reminded one of an exceptional artist. But his ability to sound music "in itself", seemingly without the medium of interpreter, by total receding behind the respective work became exemplary and fascinated orchestras and concert goers all over the world. The brand image shows a portrait of the conductor.
