2010 marks the 1100th time the first written mention of Limburg an der Lahn. Count Konrad Kurzbold had executed a pen on his castle above the Lahn. On February 10, King Louis IV gave him lands and rights to a planned basilica on the nearby Lintburk Mountain. Due to the convenient location of the abbey on a Lahn crossing the road from Cologne to Frankfurt am Main developed the place »Limburg« to a thriving commercial and industrial city. At least since the middle of the 12th century there was a wooden, from 1315 a stone bridge. The stamp shows a painted city view of George Clarkson Stanfield (1828-1878) from 1867. Note: This self-adhesive stamp is slightly smaller in the original than its wet-stick counterpart.
