As one of the most important exhibitions of contemporary art, Documenta takes place in Kassel every four to five years. From June 8 to September 15, 2002, several hundred thousand visitors are expected in the Museum Fridericianum, the Documenta Hall, the Orangerie and the so-called Culture Station. The Documenta11 offers the broad spectrum of today's art - from sculptures and drawings to photographs, film, video and multimedia to performance and music. In the run-up to the event, Documenta11's various topics were presented in several parts of the world: democracy, legal systems in transition, créolité and creolization, and the topic of African cities
