The Doppler effect is understood to be the phenomenon of the apparent change in wavelength or frequency and the intensity of a wave phenomenon (such as sound or water waves) as an observer approaches or is removed. The discovery of this natural phenomenon was achieved by Christian Andreas Doppler, who was born on September 29, 1803 in Salzburg. After training at the Polytechnic Institute in Vienna, he taught from 1837 at the Technical University in Prague, where he was appointed in 1841 professor of elementary mathematics. In 1848 he became a real member of the Vienna Academy of Sciences and Honorary Doctor of the University of Prague. Due to a lung disease, he was forced in 1852 to avoid the mild climate of Venice, where his health deteriorated and he died on March 17, 1853.
