Special cancellation from 4 April to 3 June 1989 Friedrich-List-Honoring the GDR In 1989, the 200th anniversary of the birth of Friedrich List, the bourgeois economist and important pioneer of a modern transport system. As a representative of the progressive German bourgeoisie, List engaged in the interest of the emerging capitalist mode of production in the countries of the German Confederation, committed to the development of a general German railway system. Above all, he stressed the importance of the railway for the emergence of a national market and for the entire economic, political and cultural development. List dedicated particular interest and work to the construction of a railway from Leipzig to Dresden. This was solemnly opened on April 7, 1839 and is considered the first German long-distance railway. The 200th birthday of Friedrich List is the occasion, the work of the intellectual and practical pioneer of the railway system in the development of the capitalist mode of production in Germany, which was also concerned with the improvement of the postal, customs and credit system and the patent and commercial legislation, to acknowledge a variety of measures in the German Democratic Republic. This also includes committing the 150th anniversary of the first German long-distance railway Leipzig -Dresden in an appropriate manner. For both historical data the special postage stamp issue "Friedrich-List-Honoring the GDR, 1. German Ferneisenbahn Leipzig -Dresden" is published. The stamp with a face value of 15 Pfennig shows the portrait of Friedrich List over the inscription 1st German Long Distance Railway Leipzig - Dresden 1839-1989, as it has been handed down to us from the culmination of his creative period. By indicating the year of birth of the person to be honored, the close connection between the honoring of List and the emphasis on its services for the construction of the first long-distance railway is also made clear.
