150th Birthday of Friedrich Engels On the occasion of the 150th birthday of Friedrich Engels, the Ministry of Postal and Telecommunications of the German Democratic Republic issues three special postage stamps. Friedrich Engels On November 28, 1970, progressive humanity commemorates the 150th anniversary of the birthday of Friedrich Engels, Karl Marx's closest comrade-in-arms and friend, co-founder of scientific communism and an outstanding leader of the German and international labor movement. Friedrich Engels made a great independent contribution to the establishment and development of the scientific world view of the working class and participated in the elaboration of all elements of Marxist theory. At the same time, it embodies the unity of the scientist and the revolutionary, the unity of theory and practice. Throughout his life he devoted himself to the task of empowering the working class to realize its historic mission through a scientific theory and a revolutionary party fighting on its foundation. On the side of Karl Marx, Engels created in the League of Communists the first international proletarian party, he fought in the I. International for the unification of the various streams of the working-class movement in a unified international mass organization. Engels participated in the formation of revolutionary workers' parties in several countries, both directly and indirectly, and his untiring work was due to the fact that the merger of the socialist parties in the Second International took place on a Marxist basis. After Marx's death, Engels was the most wanted advisor and assistant to the international labor movement. Workers' leaders from all countries drew from the rich treasury of insights and experiences of the ancient angel for the fight against exploitation, oppression and the threat of war, for peace, democracy and social progress. Friedrich Engels' life's work is in the midst of the conflicts of our time. Since the days of the Great Socialist October Revolution, what the seventy-three-year-old angel wrote with the assurance of victory has come true: "The dawn of a new and better society is shining brightly for the oppressed classes of all countries, and everywhere the oppressed close their ranks, everywhere they pass the borders, the hand across the different languages, the army of the international proletariat is formed, and the approaching century will bring it to victory. " The working people of the GDR are proud to have initiated the era of socialism under the leadership of the party of the working class in the birthplace of Friedrich Engels, and to have translated his revolutionary ideas into social reality. Honoring Friedrich Engels for us, building on his living heritage, is actively and creatively shaping the developed social system of socialism and thereby contributing to the universal strengthening of the GDR and socialism on a world scale. 25 Pfennig value: Friedrich Engels and his work "Anti-Dühring" Friedrich Engels has a large, independent share in the formation and scientific communism. His 1878 published work "Mr. Eugen Dührings revolution of science" is a classic example of the unity of dissemination, defense and at the same time creative development of Marxism. In this work "the deepest problems of philosophy, the natural and social sciences are examined" (Lenin). Engels, in a passionate confrontation with pseudo-socialist views, for the first time systematically presents the main components of Marxism-dialectical and historical materialism, Marxist political economy, and scientific socialism-and their interrelationships. He shows that Marxism is a self-contained, harmonious system of philosophical thought , economic and social-political doctrines, which in its entirety forms the scientific basis of socialism. The Anti-Dühring occupies an important place in the development of the Marxist worldview. On the basis of these and many other writings by Engels, generations of workers have embraced scientific socialism. Spread in high editions in the GDR, the works of Friedrich Engels contribute to enabling the working people to solve the great tasks involved in shaping the developed social system of socialism.
