20 years International Federation of Resistance Fighters (FIR) For the 20th anniversary of the International Federation of Resistance (FIR), the Ministry of Post and Telecommunications of the German Democratic Republic issues two special postage stamps with an intermediate field. 20 years of FIR The "Fédération Internationale des Résistants (FIR)" was founded in Vienna on June 30, 1951. Representatives of the anti-fascist resistance fighters from the German Democratic Republic took part in the founding conference, welcoming the formation of the FIR and submitting proposals on the tasks The principal objectives of the FIR were to unify all the European resistance organizations, to preserve the heritage of the anti-fascist resistance struggle in all countries involved in wrestling, especially against Italian and German fascism, and to establish lessons from the heroic anti-fascist struggles to actively counter the revival of all forms of fascism, commemorate the victims and campaign for the social interests of former political prisoners, all persecuted, deportees, victims and the survivors FIR has expanded its mandate and strengthened its fight against fascism, especially in such countries as Spain, Portugal and Greece. The FIR has succeeded in winning the membership of the anti-fascist resistance organizations of all European countries and Israel. These organizations include antifascists of many political tendencies, religious confessions and worldviews. Maintaining and deepening the unity of the international resistance movement is a first concern. The Committee of the Anti-Fascist Resistance Fighters of the German Democratic Republic is represented in all governing bodies of the FIR, participates actively in the drafting of resolutions and advocates their consistent implementation. The VI. The FIR Congress, held in November 1969 in Venice, was a highlight in its 20-year history. His most significant decisions called for the active support of the fight for peace and security, against neo-fascism and racism. The Committee of Anti-Fascist Resistance Fighters in the German Democratic Republic carries out many activities on the basis of the FIR decisions, especially in the areas of transmission of the lessons from the fight against Hitler fascism and imperialist war, anti-fascist education and commemoration of the murdered heroes of anti-fascist wrestling and against all phenomena of neo-Nazism in the FRG. These efforts are fully supported by the Government of the German Democratic Republic.
