As a motive and at the same time as another example of the nationalized Austrian industry, the second special postage stamp depicts the sulfuric acid plant of the Österreichische Stickstoffwerke AG in Linz. The Nitrogen Works AG emerged from the Linzer Stickstoffdüngerfabrik, founded in 1939, and since then has been continuously expanded into a versatile large-scale industry. The production portfolio includes fertilizers and pesticides, inorganic and organic chemicals and pharmaceuticals. A second focus of Stickstoffwerke AG is its active investment activities. For example, investments were made in Schwechat near Vienna to set up a petrochemical production or in 1968 half of the Austrian Dynamit Nobel was acquired. Österreichische Stickstoffwerke AG represented 1971 the most important company of the chemical industry in Austria.
