25 years of German Democratic Broadcasting On the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the German Democratic Broadcasting Corporation, the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications of the German Democratic Republic issues two multicolored special postage stamps. The Berliner Rundfunk began broadcasting again on May 13, 1945, at 8:00 pm, five days after the destruction of Hitlerite fascism in Germany by the Red Army and its allies with the anti-Hitler coalition. Anti-fascists and activists of the first hour together with Soviet specialists had repaired the destroyed broadcasting station Berlin-Tegel under the most difficult conditions. The words "here speaks Berlin" initiated the broadcasting work of the German Democratic Broadcasting Corporation. From that moment on, one of the main concerns of the German Democratic Broadcasting Corporation was to help confirm the consequences of the war and to rebuild a democratic life in Germany. The development of the socialist human community in the German Democratic Republic, the successful development of the developed social system of socialism in the first German state of the workers and peasants, has since then found continual encouragement, appreciation and support in innumerable programs. "The establishment of a new, socialist national culture for all of Germany," said the Chairman of the State Council of the GDR and First Secretary of the Central Committee of the SED, Walter Ulbricht, on the occasion of the award of the Radio with the Patriotic Order of Merit in Gold on October 22, 1959, " is inconceivable without his participation. "From humble beginnings, which were affected in the first years after 1945 many times by the consequences of the Second World War, the German Democratic Broadcasting since the founding of the GDR on 7 October 1949 has become a comprehensive Broadcasting system of the most modern character and widespread effectiveness developed. With the political and economic consolidation of the young socialist state, the technical facilities of Deutsche Post for the German Democratic Broadcasting Company grew rapidly. Today the broadcaster Radio DDR with a comprehensive information and entertainment program "around the clock" as well as a second program for culture and education, the Berliner Rundfunk with the Berliner Welle, the Germany broadcaster and Radio Berlin International broadcast a total program of more in twelve languages daily than 190 transmission hours. It is carried by 42 FM stations and 77 long, medium and shortwave stations far beyond the borders of the German Democratic Republic to millions of listeners who learn in this way of the blossoming of the first socialist German peace state. The network of shortwave broadcasts of Radio Berlin International as the foreign part of the German Democratic Republic covers the entire globe. It is in keeping with the democratic nature of the German workers 'and peasants' state that its citizens participate in a variety of ways in their broadcasting activities and shape their programs decisively. Following their listening needs, the programs are constantly geared to the latest insights of a modern design. The introduction of the information and entertainment program of the German Democratic Broadcasting on the eve of the 20th anniversary of the GDR bears witness to this. The same applies to the constant expansion of an effective system for stereo broadcasts, which already supplies around four million households in the GDR today. The Ministry of. Post and Telecommunications honors the 25th anniversary of the German Democratic Broadcasting Corporation by issuing two postage stamps. The 15 Pfennig value shows the pivoting shortwave antenna Nauen of Deutsche Post one of the most modern facilities in the world for directed broadcasts. It broadcasts Radio Berlin International's programs to Asia, Africa and America in English, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Arabic, Indonesian, Sucheli, Hindi and German. An ever-growing audiance confirms the great popularity of this station, which celebrates its 15th anniversary on April 15, 1970. It is particularly due to the factual, objective design of all programs that are marked by the principles of human rights, equal rights, international understanding and peace in the world.
