On July 12, 1973, it was exactly 50 years that Radio Austria Aktiengesellschaft was founded. The father of this foundation was Marconi's Wireless Telegraph Company based in London, which brought capital and technical equipment into cooperation with the postal and telegraph administration. The reason for the founding of Radio Austria AG was the inferno of World War I, to which a large part of the European cable and wire lines as well as the transatlantic telegraph cable had fallen victim. The founding team formed former members of the K.K. Kriegsmarine, which brought their long military experience in the transmission of radio messages. Thirty years later, in the year of the State Treaty, the Republic of Austria became the sole owner of the company. The company, which was originally founded only for radio telegraph operations, has in the meantime also made use of the modern transmission channels with the approval of the postal and telegraph authorities. For example, non-cancellable rights of use were acquired on transatlantic and Mediterranean cables and leased lines via satellite to the east and west. The brand image shows a telex.
