The dark symbolism of the brand motif is intended to illustrate the grave consequences of the events of March 11, 1938 for Austria, when the National Socialists took power in our country. It was the beginning of a reign of terror, which was to last until April 1945. Countless Austrians lost their lives to their upright resistance to this regime. A large proportion of the officials working on behalf of the Republic on this day, unless they were able to flee abroad on time, were arrested and transported to a concentration camp. They came with the first Austrian transport to Dachau, together with well-known opponents of the National Socialists. 2,700 Austrians were executed as active resistance fighters, 16,493 died in concentration camps and 16,000 were murdered in Gestapo prisons. The crimes of the National Socialists in Austria cost the lives of a total of 65,459 Austrian Jews by April 1945.
