Founded on October 20, 1948, the German Landwomen Association is committed to improving the working and living conditions of women in rural areas. Specifically, the association is endeavoring, among other things, to educate women in agricultural households, to provide rural medical care, to set up social welfare centers there and to improve the social security of young widows in agriculture. Today, the German Landwomenverband represents the interests of more than 550,000 women in more than 1,300 local associations.
