The special stamp honors the work of Hermann Gmeiner, who opened the first children's village in Imst in Tyrol in 1949. "Only a beloved child can become a loving adult" - this thought was the leitmotif for the founding of the SOS Children's Villages and comes from Hermann Gmeiner, born June 23, 1919 in Alberschwende, Vorarlberg, died 1986 in Innsbruck, Tyrol. There are currently ten SOS Children's Villages and eight SOS Kindergartens in Austria. The idea of Hermann Gmeiner is already being lived in 132 countries worldwide and financed by donations.
