Old African Art Treasures in Museums of the GDR With pictures of Old African art shooters from GDR museums, the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications of the German Democratic Republic publishes six multi-colored special postage stamps. Special cancellations from June 20 to August 19, 1978 Old-African art shooters in GDR museums The motifs of this special postage stamp issue reflect objects from the rich collections of the Egyptian Museum of the Karl Marx University Leipzig and the Egyptian Museum of the National Museums in Berlin in the exhibition "Africa in Antiquity - Art Treasures from Nubia and Sudan" organized by the Brooklyn Museum, NY, USA, with scientific support from the National Museums in Berlin, GDR, 1978/79. 25 Pfennig Value: Shield of a Ring, Gold, 1st Century BC u. Z. - Egyptian Museum Berlin This golden shield ring is also part of the rich grave decorations of Queen Amanishakheto. On a wide ring of fingers, connected by a joint, there is a semicircular shield (height 3.8 cm, width 3.3 cm) in the shape of a collar and the voIlplastic ram head of the god Amun with a combined crown. The collar is adorned with ribbons with woven, drop and rhombus pattern in cell fusion technique and a series of attached small gold balls. From the ram's head two chains of gold wire and balls hang down on the collar. At the ball chain is a small gods image. The shield ring of gold and glass flow (formerly blue, now discolored) is completely preserved, most glass melt deposits have fallen out.
