From June 20 to 24, 1990, the city hall of the state capital Düsseldorf will be a meeting place for stamp friends from all over the world. The cause for this is the philatelic world exhibition DÜSSELDORF '90, which is composed of a large number of individual events and actions. The focus is on the 10th International Stamp Exhibition of Youth and the 11th National Stamp Exhibition of Youth (NAJUBRIA). Stamps and philatelic vouchers are offered to the visitor, arranged neatly on exhibition sheets, which together make up an exhibition area of more than 2000 m2. The exhibition offer is supplemented by the JUNIOR-MOPHILA (only collections containing stamps and vouchers from the last 10 years may be exhibited) and a special exhibition with collections on the theme of »The Rhine«. The stamp exhibitions of the DÜSSELDORF '90 are competitive exhibitions. This means that young collectors participating in a collection will face the judgment of expert judges. While "JUNIOR-MOPHILA" also has its own "first-time works", participating in the "International" and the "National" requires a successful performance in previous low-level exhibitions, so that only the best collections of youth in the world or the Federal Republic of Germany and participate in the competition. The jury assigns evaluations, which receive medals up to the level of "Gold" in the "National", and the "International" up to the level of "Vermeil" (silver gold). 530 young stamp collectors face this competition, including 460 in the International Exhibition. The exhibitors come from 37 countries all over the world. Only those collectors who are at most 21 years old on 1 January 1990 may participate in the stamp exhibitions of the youth. All exhibitors are divided into one of the age groups (up to 13 years, 14 and 15, 16 and 17, 18 and 19, 20 and 21 years). For the International Exhibition the World Association of Stamp Collectors, the Fédération Internationale de Philatélie (FIP), has given patronage to the Bund Deutscher Philatelisten e.V. The DÜSSELDORF '90 is under the patronage of Bundestag President Professor Dr. med. Rita sweetmouth. In addition to the stamp exhibitions, the event offers a number of other attractions. The participation of Deutsche Bundespost, which is represented by a jubilee show and a number of special post offices and special stamps, is all about the anniversary of the "500 years of mail"; In addition, it will be present with a joint stand together with the postal administrations of Belgium and Austria. A large number of foreign postal administrations as well as stamp dealers, specialized publishers and philatelic press organs form the »stock exchange« of DÜSSELDORF '90. The associations of organized stamp collectors (Bund Deutscher Philatelisten and Deutsche Philatelisten-Jugend) inform about collecting stamps and everything related to them in the information center. Also an action center is supervised by both associations, in which the already existing or newly acquired knowledge can be tested and applied. In the computer corner, in the play and paint corner as well as in the newspaper making area, there are some suggestions: computer programs that can be used for the hobby stamps are presented and can be tested for their suitability for their own needs. There are tips for newspaper makers in the newspaper corner; In addition to examples of group newspapers from youth groups of the German Philatelist Youth, there is the opportunity to participate in the preparation and production of a newspaper. The meeting of young people from Germany and abroad is the focus of the »Federal Meeting of the Young Stamp Friends« and the »International Youth Exchange«. The youth competition of the World Association FIP is also about encounter and peaceful coexistence, when teams from many countries demonstrate their theoretical knowledge and practical skills on the subject of »The Rhine«. Outside the Stadthalle, but still part of the DÜSSELDORF '90, the open German Championships of Young Stamp Friends take place in football and table tennis. All these activities are also part of the group program in the youth groups of the German Philatelist Youth; More than 560 of these youth groups have been formed in the Federal Republic of Germany including Berlin (West) and are supervised by the Federal Association. The DÜSSELDORF '90 should be a reflection of the work of this association, embedded in philatelic youth work worldwide and influencing it. (Text: Heinz-Otto Vervoort, 1st Chairman of the Deutsche Philatelisten-Jugend e.V. and the Organizing Committee of the DÜSSELDORF '90)
