100 years ago, Carl Spitteler became the first and only Swiss citizen to receive the Nobel Prize for Literature. A typographically implemented special stamp recalls this exceptional honor as well as the work and work of Spitteler. Carl Spitteler, born in 1845 in Basellandschaftliches Liestal, has created an impressive literary work as a novelist, poet and columnist. In addition, the studied theologian was also active as a literary critic, composer, draftsman and teacher. In 1914 he wrote on the occasion of the outbreak of the First World War, the neutrality call "Our Swiss position".
