For 90 years there have been the youth welfare offices in Austria, which take care of the welfare of the youth. In Vienna, this is Municipal Department 11. The anniversary should be honored with a stamp. However, there were doubts that the topic "youth welfare" would hardly find much public interest. It was therefore decided to issue a "child stamp" instead. Österreichische Post AG advertised a drawing competition for children in Austria aged 14 and under. The topic was "Child and Family" or "Youth and Family". Style, technique and color selection were optional, as the format was DIN A 5 prescribed. The deadline for submission was March 31, 2003 very short notice, nevertheless, more than 5000 drawings arrived. A pre-selection of 30 drawings was made by an internal jury, from which the final winner was selected by an extended jury. He comes from Eva Wallner, an eight-year-old girl from Salzburg. It is planned to exhibit the designs in public on a touring exhibition. As part of this traveling exhibition, the children's stamp will also be presented in the Vienna City Hall.
