The Christmas stamp 1998 shows a fresco from the Propsteikirche Tainach / Tinje in Carinthia. The fresco was discovered by chance during restoration work of the church in 1972 and is located on the south side of the front chancel. The artwork probably dates from 1423, the artist is not known by name. The stamp motif shows a section of the fresco with a scene from the stable to Bethlehem.
