Christmas - Germany / Federal Republic of Germany 2000 - 110 Pfennig

Both the Christmas stamps of the year 2000 and the year 2001 appear as German-Spanish joint editions. This year, the motifs of both brands are dedicated to the theme "The Birth of Christ". The motif »painting« shows a work by the painter Conrad von Soest, the motif »modern nativity scene« the realization in the form of a banner by the graphic artist Christiane Hemmerich. The motives of both brands could not be more different. Conrad von Soest focuses in his picture from the year 1403, which today hangs in the city church Bad Wildungen, on the well-known history in the stable, with ox, donkey, Jesus child, Maria and Josef. In contrast, the modern nativity scene Christiane Hemmerich. Three biblical texts are summarized in one picture: the Nativity, the shepherds from the field near Bethlehem and the adoration of the three wise men from the East. Again, as so often portrayed as kings. The whole picture is characterized by colorful, intense colors. Already in this issue it becomes clear how different Christmas is seen at different times and in different places. One can look forward to the Spanish implementation of the Christmas stamps in 2001. The proceeds from the sale of the Christmas stamps go to the Federal Association of the Free Welfare Care Association, the Association of Worker Welfare, the Diaconal Work of the Protestant Church of Germany, the German Caritas Association, the German Paritätischer Wohlfahrtsverbandes, of the German Red Cross and the Central Welfare Office of the Jews in Germany.
