The brand on the brand, the series "Classic Trademarks", is one of the most popular current special stamp series. With the present value, "Gmundner Keramik", the series is now continued in an attractive way. History: As early as the 17th century, Gmunden was considered to be the center of ancient Austrian fine and ornamental ceramics. The landscapes around the Traunsee inspired many ceramic artists to create special creations, and even then the decor "Grüngeflammtes", which had become a classic, was created. But not only ceramic manufacturers, but also Hafner, stove setters and tile producers founded their own studios here. In the "Künstlerische Werkstätte Franz and Emilie Schleiß" - since 1843 predecessors of today's company, the "Gmundner Keramik-Manufaktur für Kunst- und Gebrauchskeramik" - various artists and ceramists worked in the summer months since 1909. No one less than, for example, Franz von Zülow taught in the 1917 founded training workshop for ceramics. After several changes in ownership, in 1968 a certain Johannes Hohenberg acquired the business. While the main focus of attention was on figurative art up until then, the increased production of utensils began. The above-mentioned décor "Grüngeflammtes" had enormous success and led to a kind of identification of the Austrians with their typical tableware. Finally, in 1973, a new workshop was built, which made it possible to meet even large supply orders. Two years later, in 1975, the company received the state award and has since been allowed to use the national coat of arms in business dealings. In the fall of 1997, the Salzburg entrepreneur Johannes Graf von Moy, who previously held 26 percent, took over 79 percent of the company shares from the friendly Hohenberg family. An essential modernization of the company was the adaptation of the quality to contemporary standards - that is how all ÖNORM products today correspond to gastronomy porcelain. With about 230 employees around 10,000 everyday and gift articles are produced daily. A total of 500 different forms in more than 20 decors are available, the selection of items ranging from coffee and dining service to various vases and ornaments. An increasingly important pillar, however, was the B2B business, where individual products are produced for industrial, commercial and service customers. After all, a quarter of the production goes to export to Europe, mainly to Germany, as well as to the USA.
