More than 100 years ago, Waldemar Bonsels created the little bee Maya, which has since made millions of children's hearts beat with their friends and their adventures and has long since become a world-famous cult figure. The characters and the script were provided by the American comic artist Marty Murphy, who provided Maja with her bee friend Willi and the grasshopper Flip. The series went on air in 1976 with a total of 104 episodes in Germany and Austria and not only enjoyed immense popularity, but also set in motion an immense merchandising machinery - soon the naughty bee Maja on school supplies, toys or sweets and was a plush toy be acquired. In 2012, the Belgian company Studio 100, the ZDF and the French broadcaster TF1 developed a new, computer-animated TV series with Bee Maja in 3D, which is now the next generation of children with some new characters such as the snail Rufus, the dung beetle Ben or the ladybird Lara cast a spell on her.
