The series "German national and nature parks" draws attention to largely untouched landscapes in Germany with their often unique flora and fauna. Currently there are 13 national parks in Germany. The floodplain Lower Oder Valley on the German-Polish border was formed in millennia by the Oder. It extends in the northeast of Brandenburg over 45 kilometers to the south. It was named National Park in 1995. The lower Oder valley with more than 1,000 plant species is one of the most biodiverse habitats in Germany. The flooded meadows are a resting place for many migrating waterfowl in spring and summer. More than 120 species of birds breed here, including eagles and black storks. Every year, the number of visitors who want to experience and understand nature in the park and in the National Park House with Oder Aquarium increases.
