Leipzig Autumn Fair 1974 At the Leipzig Autumn Fair in 1974, the Ministry of Postal and Telecommunications of the German Democratic Republic issues two multicolored postage stamps. Leipziger Herbstmesse 1974 25 Pfennig value: beet slug KS-6 Based on the work plan for scientific and technical cooperation of the GDR and the USSR in the field of automation and chemical production of agricultural production developed specialists from the Soviet Institute UkrNIISCHOM Kharkov and the VEB Weimar -Kombinat the six-row self-propelled beet slug KS-6, which is reproduced on the 25-pfennig value. This highly effective agricultural machine helps to significantly increase labor productivity in socio-economic farms in a relatively short time. After successful joint trials in the USSR, the GDR, the PR of Bulgaria, the Hungarian VR and the CSSR, production started. In the companies of the VEB Weimar-Kombinat, the agricultural machinery assemblies including the driver's cab, in the Ternopol Combined Plant the entire energy-related part as well as the landing gear and in the PR of Bulgaria the required hydraulics are produced. The final assembly takes place in Ternopol. The beet slaker KS-6 is equipped with the Soviet 150 HP diesel engine SMD-64. The steering axle and the drive axle are partially modified assemblies from the Soviet combine harvester "Niwa". The six harvesting aggregates clear the beets, separate a large part of the absorbed soil and throw the beets onto the screen rollers. About the transfer roller enter the beets on the steep conveyor to the cross conveyor and are transported via the discharge conveyor to the adjacent collecting vehicle. The Beet-Stripper KS-6 offers three to four times more racking power compared to conventional three-row harvesting technology. This reduces the harvest campaign by about 14 days. At the same time, this means increasing the sugar content of beets by one to two percent, as they can stay longer in the soil and ripen.
