Rowing is one of the most efficient and durable sports in the GDR. The regatta course in Brandenburg, symbolized on the 25-pfennig value, received the highest classification when it was accepted by the FISA and in 1972 was the venue of the European Women's Championships in rowing. In addition, it is also available for canoeing, motorboating and ice sailing.
