Leipziger Spring Fair 1978 At the Leipzig Spring Fair 1978, the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications of the German Democratic Republic issued two special postage stamps. Special cancellation from March 7 to May 6, 1978 Leipzig Spring Fair 1978 25-pfennig value: universal measuring chamber UMK 10/1318 The universal measuring chamber UMK 10/1318 is a modular construction of terrestrial recording devices with large-format wide-angle measuring chambers as the central unit. It can be used anywhere with the highest efficiency, where a large format, as large-scale as possible image is required, but a large angle of view is the necessary prerequisite for most recording dispositions. Due to the focusability of the lenses, shooting distances of about 1 m to infinity are possible. This results in applications in a variety of fields, where photogrammetry offers the only or at least the most economical solution pending measurement problems. Due to the universality of the equipment complex and the high achievable accuracy, the UMK 10/1318 is excellently suited especially in the field of industrial photogrammetry. Especially in pre-production research, the range of variation of the system becomes fully effective, since here the recording dispositions change most frequently depending on the different problems. In the area of project planning, it is possible to use photogrammetry both on the scaled-down model and on the original object with practically the same instrumentation. From the variety of applications some examples: shipbuilding: production control of sections, measurement for reconstructions or repairs; Wave measurements in trailing channel tests. Vehicle construction: Determination of deformations during load tests. Construction: Acquisition of old stock for reconstruction purposes. Production control of new buildings: investigations of statically or dynamically loaded components and bridges. Transportation: measurement of accident situations; Investigation of the profile freedom on tunnels and bridges. The UMK 10/1318 system is of outstanding importance for architectural and monument preservation, where the combination of large format and true wide-angle is the prerequisite for an optimally designed recording device, as well as in such areas as meteorology, anthropology, medicine, sports science, zoology, etc.
