Circus Art in the GDR With representations from circus art in the GDR, the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications of the German, Democratic Republic publishes four multicolored special postage stamps. No special first-day cover envelope Special cancellation from September 26 to November 25, 1978 Circus art in the GDR The occasion for the issue of stamps with circus motifs is the 25th anniversary of the national circuses. By resolution of the Council of Ministers of the GDR of April 1954, the circuses "Aeros", "Busch" and "Barlay" were converted into public property. The national circuses of the GDR "Eros", "Busch" and "Berolina", which have been united in the VEB Zentral-Circus since 1 January 1960, have an international reputation. The circus art in the GDR has a wide base and enjoys annually in our country alone around two million visitors, not counting the visitors who have seen GDR circus ensembles and performances in the past 25 years on all five continents. The circus art of the GDR builds on the progressive traditions of bourgeois-humanist circus art - especially the German - on and leads them, enriched with international, and their own findings, on a higher level. In particular, the experiences of the Soviet circus artists were taken over. The stamps show special highlights of the GDR circus art, which can be called either classical, or represent a special originality: - Also has the "Eisbärenkuß", in which the polar bear a piece of sugar from the mouth of the demonstrator or the projectionist decreases. The special atmosphere of the circus with its dark chapiteau, the bright headlights, the beauty of man and beast and colored costumes is shown on the stamps on hand.
