VII. Child and Youth Spartakiade of the GDR For the VII. Child and Youth Spartakiade of the GDR in Berlin in 1979, the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications of the German Democratic Republic issues two multicolored special postage stamps. VII. Children's and Youth Spartakiads of the GDR For more than a decade, the child and youth Spartakiads of the GDR have been firmly established in the social life of our republic. Thanks to the constant support and support of the Party of the working class and our socialist state, physical culture and sport, and in particular the Spartakiad movement, have developed continuously. The Kinder- und Jugendspartakiaden have become an effective method for the broad development of children's and youth sports and a systematic talent protection and promotion. Their aim is to win over the majority of children and adolescents for regular exercise, to promote their aspiration to achieve high levels of sporting achievement, to support the achievement of good learning outcomes, and thus to contribute to the development of socialist personalities. For the seventh time, the young athletes are fighting under the blaze of the Spartakiadefeuers, which is lit in the National Memorial and Memorial Buchenwald and brought by a relay to the capital of the GDR, Berlin. The competitions and events of the VIII. Child and Youth Spartakiade of the GDR in the summer sports represent a special highlight within the diverse range of sporting events in the 30th year of the founding of the German Democratic Republic. In the period from 23 to 30 July 1979 10,000 young athletes in Berlin in nineteen sports (including cycling and speeding, as shown on the special Postwertzeichen) as well as in Zwickau in canoe slalom determine the Spartakiadesieger. In preparation for the GDR Spartakiade, children's and youth party accords are being carried out in the districts and districts of our country. The number of participants in the Kreisspartakiaden in summer sports increased from 321,000 in 1965 to 933,000 in 1978 and in the district partakiade from 50,000 to 96,000. The participants of the VII. Kinder- and Jugendspartakiade will demonstrate with their achievements and their appearance again the further grown level in the children and youth sport as well as the high development level of physical culture and sport in our republic. In addition to the sporting competitions, which are characterized by zest for life and performance, there are a variety of cultural events. Here the young athletes will find relaxation from their competitions and gain new strength for their future tasks. There will be a series of cordial meetings of the young Spartakiad fighters with excellent competitive athletes as well as representatives of the representatives of the Spartakiad movement - DTSB of the GDR, FDJ and pioneer organization "Ernst Thälmann" and organs of popular education - at round tables and in exchange of opinions. According to the tradition of the Spartakiad, the participants will honor the legacy of the anti-fascist resistance fighters as well as their firm attachment and friendship with the Soviet Union and the other socialist brother countries in a meeting at the Soviet Memorial in Berlin-Treptow.
