Narrow gauge railways in the GDR, 2nd edition With the images of narrow gauge railways in the GDR, the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications of the German Democratic Republic issued two multi-color se-tenants. Special cancellation from 21 July to 20 September 1981 narrow gauge line Putbus-Göhren The network of narrow gauge railways on the island of Rügen included the routes Bergen-Altenkirchen and Altefähr-Putbus-Göhren. The tracks were built with a track width of 750 mm. The stretch Putbus-Göhren is still in operation today and serves mainly tourist and tourist traffic between Putbus on the regular gauge main line Stralsund-Saßnitz and the seaside resorts Binz, Sellin, Baabe and Göhren. This section was taken in sections from 1895 to 1899 in operation. The most scenic section of this narrow gauge line lies between Binz-Ost and Sellin. Here the train leads through beautiful forests and reaches at the hunting lodge Granitz with 50 m above sea level its highest point. Of particular interest are the reception buildings of the stations Sellin, Baabe and Göhren, which date back to various periods of construction. Given the strong tourist traffic during the summer months, this train will continue to be a tourist attraction.
