Special cancellation from 6 July to 5 September 1982 7th stamp exhibition of the youth of the GDR For the seventh time a large national stamp exhibition of the youth of the GDR takes place. After Halle (1966 and 1973), Karl-Marx-Stadt (1970), Gera (1976), Cottbus (1978) and Zella-Mehlis (1980), this time the district town Schwerin hosts the young philatelists. From July 16 to 25, 1982, the exhibition will open its doors there, with the best exhibits from 14 to 25 year old collectors. A second part of the 7th stamp exhibition of the youth of the GDR, with collections of 10- to 13-year-old girls and boys, will also be shown during the VII Pioneer Meeting from 19 to 22 August 1982 in Dresden. The 7th stamp exhibition of the youth of the GDR is under the motto "Friendship to the Soviet Union - our heart issue". It is dedicated to the 65th anniversary of the Great October Socialist Revolution and the 60th anniversary of the founding of the USSR; At the same time it is a contribution to the X. Federal Congress of the Cultural League of the GDR. On the subjects of history and civics, art and culture, science and technology, physical culture and sports young philatelists from all districts of the GDR will show meaningful collections. In addition, there are country and special collections, exhibits on postal history, airmail, ship mail and chronicles on philatelic youth work. All in all, it is also a concern of the 7th GDR Youth Exhibition to demonstrate how recreational philatelic activity as a part of cultural folklore can be particularly useful in youth work in order to provide knowledge and insights for the education and training of young socialists. The organizer of the exhibition is the Philatelistenverband in the cultural association of the GDR. Since the 2nd stamp exhibition of the youth of the GDR in 1970, postage stamps for these highlights of the Jugendphilatelie have always appeared. Since the 4th exhibition in 1976 in Gera, it has become a tradition to combine history and present in the form of cityscapes and city coats of arms on two brands and an intermediate field. This tradition is continued in 1982. The additional value of 10 + 5 pfennig shows a cityscape of Schwerin around 1640, ie from the time of the Thirty Years' War. This view was created by Kaspar Merian and can be found in the "Topographies", the famous collection of European cityscapes, with which the Swiss engraving family Merian entered art history. The Schweriner See and the Pfaffenteich (far left), the strong fortifications with the Schmiede-Tor and the Mühlen-Tor, the Gothic Brick Domine (left), which originates mainly from the 14th and early 15th century, can be seen in detail former town hall with tower (center) and the then Schwerin Castle (far right) as the seat of the Dukes of Mecklenburg.
