Member of the People's Chamber since 1958, Head of the Institute for Opinion Research at the Central Committee of the SED from 1964 to 1974. He earned lasting service in building and strengthening the workers 'and peasants' power in the GDR. Karl Maron died on 2 February 1975 in Berlin.
