The Free German Youth is very pleased that the Lenin Komsomol, the most experienced and strongest force of the democratic youth and student movement, is hosting this World Youth Meeting. The World Festival of Youth and Students has become, in its thirty-eight year history, the largest and widest meeting of the youth of all continents. The FDJ is proud to have hosted the youth of the world twice. Like the XII. Parliament of the FDJ showed, the festival ideas of friendship and solidarity are deeply rooted in the thinking and action of the youth of the GDR. With words and deeds the Free German Youth stood and stands firmly by the side of all upright fighters against imperialism and reaction, for peace and social progress. On the entry of the XI.
