Leipzig Spring Fair 1987 On the occasion of the Leipzig Spring Fair 1987, the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications of the German Democratic Republic issues two multicolored special postage stamps. Special cancellation from March 10 to May 9, 1987 35-pfennig value: new building of the Messehalle 20 At the Leipzig Spring Fair in 1987, the new building of the Messehalle 20 will be dedicated to its purpose. This completes the ensemble of exhibition buildings at the west entrance of the exhibition center, which already received two attractive new buildings in 1977, with the exhibition hall 7 and in 1980 with the exhibition hall 7.11. The foundation stone was laid in October 1984 for the construction of the new Hall 20. The hall has a length of about 177 meters, a width of 72 meters and a height of 19 meters. The main hall construction consists of steel columns and steel roof trusses. The exterior fronts are made of natural concrete in field widths of 16 meters and are interrupted by vertical window bands made of tinted thermo glass and brown anodized aluminum frames and panels. The base is covered with brown ceramic tiles. The hall is equipped with three overhead cranes, each with a lifting capacity of 20 t and a railway connection. It has an air-conditioned ventilation system. In the floor are electrical energy, telephone, compressed air, water, sewage and heat pipes installed to supply the exhibition stands. The net exhibition space is 9,300 square meters. For the spring trade fair in Leipzig in 1987, the industry complex Machine Tools and Tools will exhibit here. The hall was built by the construction and assembly combine South, as the main contractor was the foreign trade operation Invest-Commerz used.
