22nd Workers Festival of the GDR 1988 On the occasion of the 22nd Workers Festival of the GDR 1988 in the district of Frankfurt / Oder, the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications of the German Democratic Republic issued two multicolored special postage stamps in combination with an intermediate field. Party Congress of the SED for the constant increase of the cultural level of the working class. As a showcase of cultural-creative forces of the working class, exchange of experience and folk festival of socialist culture and way of life, they too will exercise their mobilizing effect on the cultural life in our country. The festival takes place from 24 to 26 June 1988 in the district of Frankfurt (0), which was once - in 1965 - hosted the 7th Workers Festival. This district is home to modern industrial plants and efficient agriculture. They are already symbols of the successful development of our republic: the semiconductor plant in Frankfurt (0.), the Eisenhüttenkombinat Ost in Eisenhüttenstadt, the oil processing plant in Schwedt, the Kranbau Eberswalde u. a. Significant achievements, such as the drainage of the Oderbruch, a rich historical architecture and modern housing, testify to the cultural traditions and creativity of the people of this region. The program of the 22nd Workers Festival will present a wide range of socialist culture and art. Amateur photographers exhibit in a central exhibition in Frankfurt (0.), the literature and library work are presented in a Frankfurt center, the workers' theaters in Schwedt, the amateur cabarets in Strausberg, the choir singers in Bad Freienwalde. The German Trade Union Federation of the Federal Republic of Germany sends artists from the Ruhrfestspiele to the 22nd Workers' Festival. The working people of socialist agriculture are organizing their 11th Culture Festival in Marxwalde and workers of different professions are organizing their festivals. The Ministry of Culture, the National People's Army, the Ministry of the Interior, the Free German Youth, the German Gymnastics and Sports Federation, the National Front, the Artists' Associations and the Academy of Arts will enrich traditionally and in many ways the artistic contributions of the festival program. 20 Pfennig value: This value shows in the foreground the 1268 founded monastery in Neuzelle, which is now the home of an institute for teacher education. Behind it is the masterpiece of early Gothic brick architecture, Chorin Monastery, built from 1273 onwards. This building is today a well-known venue for concerts. In addition to other motifs that characterize both agriculture and industry, the backdrop is the Seelower Heights, where the Memorial to the Liberation was erected in April 1945 to commemorate the heroic battles of the Red Army.
