The European Conference of Transport Ministers was established by a protocol signed in Brussels on 17 October 1953. From 29 to 31 May 1961, Vienna hosted the meeting of 16 European Transport Ministers as part of this organization, chaired by the Austrian Minister Dipl.-Ing. Waldbrunner. At that time the six member states of the EEC and seven EFTA countries, as well as Spain, Yugoslavia, Greece and Turkey, belonged to the conference. At a time of rapid development in the water, land and air transport sector, the importance of the European Conference of Transport Ministers has steadily increased over the coming years. The brand image shows rail, water and road vehicles and should be a symbol of the spirit of cooperation in this important area. Since its founding in 1953, the Conference had adopted a total of 43 resolutions until 1960 in the field of international railways, international road transport, European waterways and general transport issues. They set an international framework for traffic development.
