The World Chess Federation, Federation internationale des Echecs (FIDE), is the umbrella organization of all chess players. The brand motif shows a symbolic representation of the emblem of the World Chess Federation. FIDE is made up of 124 chess federations. According to the number of nations, the World Chess Federation is the second largest sports club of all. In 1924, the first World Team Championship was held in Paris and proclaimed on this occasion the World Chess Federation. In addition to the World Championships of men, women, youth, the chess olympics of men and women and continental championships are organized by the FIDE. After the end of the war, FIDE experienced a tremendous upswing. Junior World Championships and a student Olympics were created. A rating system developed by Professor Arpad Elo, also known as the rating system, was introduced. The Elo numbers are skill numbers for chess players. The 1972 FIDE Congress decided to use these Elo figures for international rankings and titles (FIDE titles). The Congress of the World Chess Federation in Graz laid down further basic principles of chess sports and focused on organizational structure and competition systematics.
