"Elisabeth Görgl with Courage to Gold!" - was the title of "Der Standard" after the victory of Lizz Görgl in the Super-G at the World Ski Championships in Garmisch-Partenkirchen last winter. A few days later, the sympathetic athlete put her on top again and took gold medal number two at the downhill competition. All over Austria rejoiced over the newly crowned double world champion, who set the (provisional) climax with this double triumph of her successful career. With the new special stamp, Österreichische Post AG congratulated in a very special way. Elisabeth Görgl, born on February 20, 1981 in Bruck an der Mur, was, to a certain extent, already in the cradle of love for skiing, as her mother, Traudl Hecher, also made great sporting achievements as a successful ski racer. Growing up in Parschlug, a small Styrian community, Lizz, as she is affectionately known by her fans, completed the well-known ski school Stams. After winning numerous FIS races and her European Cup appearances (which she won in the 2002-03 season), she celebrated her first podium finish in a World Cup race on January 5, 2003, with second place in the Bormio slalom , From then on it went steadily uphill - and over the past few years Görgl developed into one of the top runners within the ÖSV squad. With two bronze medals at the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Games, a bronze medal at the 2009 Val d'Isère World Championships, 29 podium finishes (including three wins) at World Cup races, five Austrian state championship titles and the aforementioned two Garmisch-Partenkirchen giants, the all-time favorite Athlete already look back on an extremely successful career. As much as the new "Speed-Queen" of Austria, who was named "Sportswoman of the Year" this year, has fallen for the Temporausch, privately she loves the silence all the more. According to her, she draws her strength from her family and her boyfriend, with whom she enjoys sharing her hobbies: dancing, music, yoga, Thai Boxing - and wellness. Asked in an interview, how it lives as a double world champion, she said coquettishly: "Geil. That's a stupid word, but that's the way it feels! "
