The stamp motif shows a proof of the original plate of the value level to S 3.70 of the hunting series 1959 during the engraving work, viewed through a magnifying glass. The proof shows the engraver how far the desired tonal gradations in the original plate have already been reached. The importance of the control pressure results from the fact that the engraver can only make a reinforcement of the lines and points. A weakening of the lines would be at the expense of pressure safety and thus the cleanliness of the stitch. When viewing a print with a magnifying glass, as shown by the presentation of the present stamp, the lines are easily recognizable to the viewer. It is left to the experience and consideration of the engraver to make the distances of the lines and points from the beginning so that after the end of the engraving the achieved nuances of tone in the smallness of the brand image correspond to the original of the designer.
